Black South African victims of the South Africa’s nearly 50-year-long system of apartheid have filed suit against US companies who they claim were complicit in human rights abuses occurring during the time they did business in apartheid South Africa. The companies include Daimler AG, General Motors, Ford Motor Company and IBM. The success of such a lawsuit would not only go a long way in finally bringing some justice to the victims of South African apartheid, but would send a powerful message to companies who work with Israel and other governments that commit human rights abuses that they can be held accountable.
