Bay Area Campaign to End Israeli Apartheid
The Bay Area Campaign to End Israeli Apartheid (BACEIA) is a campaign initiated by Break the Siege (BTS) as a grassroots effort to engage people in boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) work. Our priority is to build power locally to challenge Israeli apartheid by building a base of people committed to BDS. The first part of this campaign is engaging people in a consumer boycott of Israeli goods and other companies that support Israeli apartheid. We are asking people to take our pledge to boycott Israeli goods, support the Palestinian fair trade economy, and stay in touch with us as we progress in our campaign. As we build our base and build our power, our actions and activities will grow and evolve.
Break The Siege
Break the Siege (BTS) is a group of grassroots activists that seeks and supports self-determination for the colonized and displaced peoples of SWANA – Southwest Asia and North Africa (the “Middle East”). The focus of BTS is to organize to support popular liberation struggles in the Israeli and U.S. occupied and influenced regions of SWANA with Palestine and Palestinian liberation struggles at the center.
We work in a participatory framework taking leadership from affected peoples of the region, guided by a commitment to self-education and challenging our own privileges. We are opposed to imperialism, sectarianism, and Zionism. We organize through principles of anti-racism and feminism, in solidarity with other indigenous, immigrant, worker, and anti-colonial movements locally and internationally.
BTS prioritizes work in three areas:
- Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions
- Shifting the terms of the debate on Palestine
- Building solidarity and alliances with other communities in struggle
